Born in Liverpool, UK, in 1959.
I now live in Runcorn, Cheshire, UK, with two of my wonderful grown up daughters, plus three cats.
I can't remember a time when I haven't done something arty or crafty. I haven't had any formal training, but was quite good at art at school. I'd always wanted to learn how to draw "properly", but didn't have a clue how to go about it. A few years ago I bought myself a book on the subject, but I wasn't particularly inspired by it and gave up after a couple of weeks. One day, in summer 2006, I was browsing around the drawing section of the local library and came across a book called "Draw Realistic Portraits" by Lee Hammond. I took it home and I was hooked. I now own several of her books and she continues to inspire me. I had a photograph of Dad (who passed away in 2000) which I had wanted to draw for a long time, so that was the incentive to gain some decent drawing skills. In September 2006 I was surfing the net for drawing sites and came across a site called Wetcanvas. I registered with them and they encouraged me to draw something and post it stage by stage. |

Self Portrait - 2007 I decided to attempt a portrait of my eldest daughter, Louise. Home The comments and the gentle, but very helpful advice I received from the artists there spurred me on and I completed a fairly good drawing. I've improved a lot in the time since I joined Wetcanvas, and I'll be forever grateful to my friends there. My goal for 2009 is to add acrylic portraits to my list of skills. |

I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I enjoyed creating it.
